Loris Lai è nato a Roma. Ha conseguito la Laurea in Lettere e Filosofia presso l’Università degli Studi Roma Tre. La sua tesi era uno studio su Orson Welles e l’estetica del montaggio. Negli anni successivi Loris studia cinema sperimentale a Los Angeles presso la UCLA. Durante la sua permanenza alla UCLA, ha ottenuto diverse borse di studio, tra cui la Henry Luce Fellowship, la Sloan Fellowship in regia e sceneggiatura e la Zaki Gordon Fellowship. Loris ha continuato i suoi studi con una borsa di studio completa presso l’American Film Institute di Los Angeles, dove ha conseguito il MFA in Regia. Il suo film di fine corso, APRIL 86, è stato scritto e diretto da lui. Ha diretto i suoi numerosi video musicali tra cui LOVE IS REQUITED della candidata all’Oscar Elisa, concepito con la vincitrice dell’Oscar Milena Canonero. HOW KIDS ROLL è il primo lungometraggio da lui diretto.

Loris Lai was born in Rome and graduated with a degree in Literature and Philosophy from Roma Tre University, where his thesis focused on Orson Welles and the aesthetics of editing. In the following years, he studied experimental cinema at UCLA in Los Angeles. During his time at UCLA, he received several scholarships, including the Henry Luce Fellowship, the Sloan Fellowship in directing and screenwriting, and the Zaki Gordon Fellowship. Loris continued his studies with a full scholarship at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, where he earned an MFA in Directing. His graduation film, April 86, was both written and directed by him. He has directed numerous music videos, including Love Is Requited by Oscar nominee Elisa, conceived with Oscar winner Milena Canonero. How Kids Roll is his first feature film as director.
